Average velocity of a particle moving in a straight line, with constant acceleration a, initial velocity u, time t is

\[(a)\;u+\frac{1}{2}at\quad (b)\;u+at \quad (c)\;\frac{u+at}{2}\quad (d)\;\frac{u}{2}\]

$average\; velocity=\large\frac{Total \;displacement}{time}$
$=\large\frac{ut+\Large\frac{1}{2}at^2}{t}$
$=u+\large\frac{1}{2}$$at$
Hence a is the correct answer
