A police jeep is chasing with velocity $45 km/hr$ a thief in another jeep moving with velocity $153\;km/hr$. The police fires a bullet with muzzle velocity 0f $180\; m/s$. The velocity with which it will strike the car of the thief is

\[(a)\;150\; m/s \quad (b)\;27 \;m/s \quad (c)\;450 \;m/s \quad(d)\;250 \; m/s \]

effective speed of bullet
$\quad=Speed \;of\; bullet+Speed\; of\; police jeep$
$\quad=180 m/s+45 km/hr$
$\quad=(180+12.5)m/s$
$\quad=192.5 m/s$
Speed of theif's jeep$=153 km/hr=42.5 m/s$
Velocity of bullet with respect to theif's jeep$=192.5-42.5$
$\qquad=150 m/s$
Hence a is the correct answer.
