A man of weight 1 mg is moving up in a rocket with an acceleration 4g. The apparent weight of the man in the rocket is

\[(a)\;zero \quad (b)\;4\;mg \quad (c)\;5\;mg \quad(d)\;mg \]

The apparent weight in a non inertial frame moving up with an acceleation 4g is
$R=m(g+a)$
$\quad=m(g+4g)$
$\quad=5\; mg$
Hence d is the correct answer.
