Suppose that a shoelace passes without friction through 5 holes on each side of your shoe. If the tension in that shoe lace is 10 N, how much total force is the shoelace exerting on the right side of your shoe?

Each segement of the lace pulls on the right side of your shoe with 10 N.
Since there are 5 holes and each hole has two segements, total segement of right side=10.
Total force $=10 \times 10 N $
$\qquad\qquad=100 N$
Hence b is the correct answer
