If rope of lift suddenly breaks the tension exerted by surface of the lift, where a is acceleration of the lift is

\[(a)\;mg \quad (b)\;m(g-a) \quad (c)\;m(g+a) \quad (d)\;0\]

If the rope suddenly breaks the acceleration becomes equal to g.
So tension $T=m(g-a)=0$
Hence d is the correct answer.
