A metal m of equivalent mass E forms an oxide of molecular formula $M_xO_y$ .The atomic mass of the metal is given by the correct equation.

Let atomic mass of metal m is $'a'$
Mass of metal =$a\times x$
Mass of oxygen $=16\times y$
Equivalent mass of element =$\large\frac{Mass\;of\;element}{Mass\;of\;oxygen}$$\times 8$
$E=\large\frac{ax}{16y}$$\times 8$
$\Rightarrow a=2E\big(\large\frac{y}{x}\big)$
Hence (a) is the correct answer.
