One gram of a chloride was found to contain 0.835g of chlorine.Its vapor density is 85.Calculate its molecular formula

Mass of metal chloride =1g
Mass of chlorine =0.835g
Mass of metal =1-0.835
$\qquad\qquad\;\;\;=0.165$g
Equivalent mass of metal =$\large\frac{0.165}{0.835}$$\times 35.5$
$\qquad\qquad\qquad\quad\quad\;\;\;=7.01$
We know that
Valency of metal =$\large\frac{2\times vapour \;density}{E+35.5}$
$\qquad\qquad\qquad=\large\frac{2\times 85}{7.01+35.5}$
$\qquad\qquad\qquad=4$
Formula of the metal chloride =$Mcl_4$
Hence (c) is the correct option.
