The oxide of an element contains 32.33 percent of the element and the vapor density of its chloride is 79.Calculate the atomic mass of the element.

Mass of element $=32.33$parts
Mass of oxygen =$100-32.33$
$\Rightarrow 67.67$
Equivalent mass of the element =$\large\frac{32.33}{67.67}$$\times 8$
$\qquad\qquad\qquad\qquad\qquad\quad=3.82$
Valency of the element =$\large\frac{2\times vapor\;density}{E+35.5}$
$\Rightarrow \large\frac{2\times 79}{3.82+35.5}$
$\Rightarrow 4$
Hence the atomic mass of the element =$3.82\times 4$
$\qquad\qquad\qquad\qquad\qquad\qquad\quad=15.28$
Hence (b) is the correct answer.
