To 10 mL of aqueous solution some strong acid having $pH$ = 2 is mixed with $pH$ = 4.0. The $pH$ of resulting solution is

(a) 4.0

(b) 4.10

(c) 3.8

(d) 4.25

Answer: $1 \times 10^{-4}$
 
$pH$ buffer solution remains almost constant on adding small amount of acid or a base.
