A body of mass m and radius r is rotated with angular velocity w as shown. and then kept on a surface that has sufficient friction. then the body will move

Since point of contact move back ward rel. to the surface, friction acts in the forward direction, increasing its linear velocity in forward direction and producing a torque anticlockwise thereby reducing its angular velocity till rolling sets in .
Hence the body will always move forward.
