A stationary observer from far off distance observes a child on the merry go round going round and round in a circle through his binoculars. He sees this motion as:

a.       Periodic motion b.      Harmonic motion  c.       Circular motion d.      Straight line motion

When the observer sees the motion is a horizontal plane which he does, When viewing from a distance he sees the child to be going back and forth.
As the merry ground goes at a constant speed (more or less) the horizontal displacement is a function of $\sin (wt)$ which makes the motion simple harmonic
Hence the Harmonic motion is a correct answer
