In a hydrogen atom,if energy of an electron in ground state is -13.6eV,then that in the $2^{nd}$ excited state is :

$(a)\;-1.51eV\qquad(b)\;-3.4eV\qquad(c)\;-6.04eV\qquad(d)\;-13.6eV$

$2^{nd}$ excited state means third energy level.
$E_3=\large\frac{E_1}{3^2}$
$\Rightarrow \large\frac{-13.6}{9}$
$\Rightarrow -1.51eV$
Hence (a) is the correct answer.
