If a gas is made to expand in such a way that pressure increases and its final and initial volumes are equal then which of the following statements must be true?

(A) process is isochoric (B) volume first increases and then decreases (C) volume first decreases and then increases (D) none of the above

The process can be represented in one of the following ways where the pressure increases and then decreases. The volume need not necessarily increase, decrease or remain constant. Therefore (D) is the right answer.
