Given the following statements, choose the correct answer:

Statement-1: A gas can have only two rotational degrees of freedom.

Statement-2: When moving in a particular direction, the molecules can rotate about only on two perpendicular directions, which are perpendicular to the direction of propagation.

(A) Both statements are true (B) Both statements are false (C) Only Statement-1 is correct (D) Only Statement-2 is correct

Statement-1 is a fact.
Since a molecule when moving say along x-axis can only rotate about the y-axis and z-axis, the gas has only two degrees of freedom. So Statement-2 is also correct.
