A group of 10 items has mean 6. If mean of 4 of these items is 7.5 the mean of remaining items is

$\begin {array} {1 1} (A)\;6.5 & \quad (B)\;5.5 \\ (C)\;4.5 & \quad (D)\;5.0 \end {array}$

Total of 10 items = $ 6 \times 10$
$ = 60$
Total of 4 items = $ 4 \times 7.5$
$ = 30$
$ \therefore $ Total of remaining 6 items = $ 60-30$
$ = 30$
Mean = $ \large\frac{30}{6}$
$ = 5$
Ans : (D)
