In the given circuit, potential barriers developed across diode is $0.5 v$ . Find the current in the circuit.

Since potential barriers of $0.5 \;v$ develops across diode the effective voltage is
$V= 4.5 -0.5 =4v$
$R= 100r$
$I= \large\frac{V}{R}=\frac{4}{100}$
$\quad= 0.04 A$
$\quad= 40\;mA$
Hence a is the correct answer
