Which of the following solution gives precipitate with $Pb(NO_3)_2$ but not with $Ba(NO_3)_2$ ?

  • Since, $Na^+$ is more reactive than $Ba^{2+}$. So, $Ba^{2+}$ cannot displace $Cl^-$ from NaCl.
Answer: Sodium chloride
$Pb(NO_3)_2 + 2NaCl \rightarrow PbCl_2 \downarrow $ (white ppt.) $ + 2NaNO_3$
$Ba(NO_3)_2 + NaCl \rightarrow$ No reaction
