Equation of hyperbola is $\large\frac{x^2}{a^2}-\frac{y^2}{b^2}$$=1$
Now if a=b the equation becomes
$x^2-y^2=a^2$
This equation is known as general equation of rectangular hyperbola.
Hence (c) is the correct answer.
