  • Azeotropes are a mixture of at least two different liquids. Their mixture can either have a higher boiling point than either of the components or they can have a lower boiling point.
If a mixture of two liquids,shows positive deviation from Raoult's law,then an azeotropic solution of two liquids has boiling point lower than either of the two liquids.

A maximum boiling azeotrope happens when the intermolecular forces of the mixture are stronger than the individual liquids resulting in a mixture with a higher boiling point (lower vapour pressure) than the individual. In this case, vapour in equilibrium with the liquid have compositions away from the azeotropic mixture composition, towards ideal solution.
Hence (a) is the correct answer.
