Copper Crystallizes in f.c.c with a unit cell length of 361 pm. What is the radius of copper atom?

$(a)\;108\;pm\qquad(b)\;127\;pm\qquad(c)\;157\;pm\qquad(d)\;181\;pm$

1 Answer

For f.c.c structure
Radius of the atom = $\large\frac{a}{2\sqrt2}$
$\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\; = \large\frac{361}{2\sqrt2}$
$\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\;\; = 127.56$
Hence answer is (b)
