True or False: If A and B are independent events, then A and B are also independent.

1 Answer

  • Two events $A$ and $B$ associated to a random experiment are independent if probability of occurance or non-occurance of $A$ is not affected by the occurance and non-occurance of $B$.
Since $A$ and $B$ are independent events, the non-occurance of $A$ is independent of non-occurance of $B$.
There fore $\overline{A}$ and $\overline{B}$ are also independent
