The order of increasing basic strength among P-amino benzaldehyde(I),P-nitro aniniline (II) and P-bromo aniline (III) is

$\begin{array}{1 1}(a)\;(III) > (I) > (II)&(b)\;(III) > (II) > (I)\\(c)\;(II) > (I) > (III)&(d)\;(II) > (III) > (I)\end{array}$

1 Answer

$e^{\ominus}$ releasing group increases basicity of aniline while $e^{\ominus}$ with drawing group decreases the basicity.
So the correct order is $P-NO_2C_6H_4NH_2 < P-NH_2C_6H_4CHO < P-BrC_6H_4NH_2$
Hence (a) is the correct answer.
