In figure a block of mass 100 kg tied to a string of linear mass density 0.1 Kg/m . Find the velocity of wave produced in the string ? (neglect string mass) $\;(g=10\;m/s^{2})$

$(a)\;10 \sqrt{10}\;cm/s\qquad(b)\;100\;m/s\qquad(c)\;100\;cm/s\qquad(d)\;1000\;cm/s$

Answer : (b) $\;100\;m/s$
Explanation :
velocity (v) = $\;\sqrt{\large\frac{F}{\mu}}$
Tension in the string (F) = $\;100 \times 10$
$=1000 N$
$\mu=0.1\;Kg/m$
$v=\sqrt{\large\frac{1000}{0.1}}=100\;m/s\;.$
