Which of the following is not a constituent of washing powders ?

$(a)\;\text{Detergents} \\ (b)\;\text{CMC} \\(c)\;\text{Salts} \\ (d)\;\text{Phenyl} $

1 Answer

Washing powders which are commonly used these days contain only about 10 to 15 % detergents by weight.
In addition to this , they contain salt like sodium sulphate, sodium silicate, etc to keep the detergent dry.
CMC is added to keep the dirt particels suspended in water helping in the cleansing of clothes.
Hence d is the correct answer.
