The element “M” forms the chloride $\text{MCl}_4$. If the chloride contains 75 % chlorine by mass, calculate the molar mass of element “M”.

If the chloride contains 75 % chlorine by mass, then $\text{MCl}_4$ has 25% M and 75% 4Cl, i.e, in 100g, 75g of chlorine reacts with 20g of metal.
Thus $4\times35.5g$ Chlorine reacts with $\large\frac{25 \times 4 \times 35.5}{75} $$ = 47.33 \;g/mol$
