A 1KHz modulating voltage is supplied to a FM(frequency modulator) produces a frquency deviation of 1.2KHz.The modulating index is

$\begin{array}{1 1}(a)\;1.2\\(b)\;12\\(c)\;3.1\\(d)\;31\end{array}$

Modulating index=$\large\frac{\text{frequency deviation}}{\text{Modulating frequency}}$
$\Delta \nu=1.2KHz=1200$
$\nu _m=1.0KHz=1000$
$m_{\nu}=\large\frac{1200}{1000}$
$\Rightarrow 1.2$
Hence (a) is the correct option.
