Before introducing $FeO$ in blast furnace , it is converted to $Fe_2O_3$ by roasting so that

The process of roasting is performed to remove moisture, CO2, impurities of Sulphur, Arsenic. Ferrous oxide is also oxidized to ferric oxide.
Hence a is the correct answer.
