Explanation :
Adsorption is generally accompanied by decrease in randamness i.e , $\;\bigtriangleup S\;$ for the process is - ve . As
$+ \bigtriangleup G = \bigtriangleup H - T \bigtriangleup S $
$(-ve) = \bigtriangleup H - (+ve) (-ve)$
$ \bigtriangleup H = (-ve)$
Therefore , for adsorption , $\; \bigtriangleup H\;$ is generally -ve i.e , process is generally exothermic .
