What will happen when $\;NH_{3}\;$ and $\;CO_{2}\;$ is placed on the surface of charcoal separately ?

$\begin{array}{1 1} (a) \;NH_{3}\; \text{will be adsorbed more readily .} \\ (b) \;CO_{2}\; \text{will be adsorbed more readily .} \\ (c)\; NH_{3}\; \text{wont get adsorbed .} \\ \text{(d) None of them will get adsorbed on the surface of charcoal . }\end{array}$

1 Answer

Answer : $\;NH_{3}\;$ will be adsorbed more readily .
Explanation :
$NH_{3}\;$ has higher critical temperature than $\;CO_{2}\;$ and therefore , it is more easily liquefiable . Hence , $\;NH_{3}\;$ has greater inter molecular forces of attraction and will be adsorbed more readily .
