A thermometer which has upper fixed points and lower fixed points equal to $\;95^{0}\;$ and $\;5^{0}\;$ respectively , reads $\;59^{0}\;$. What is the temperature on the centigrade scale .

$(a)\;60^{0}C\qquad(b)\;30^{0}C\qquad(c)\;90^{0}C\qquad(d)\;15^{0}C$

Answer : $\;60^{\circ}C$
Explanation :
$\large\frac{\text{Temperature-lower fixed point}}{\text{upper fixed point - lower fixed point}}$$=\text{constant}$
$\large\frac{59-5}{95-5}=\large\frac{c-0}{100-0}$
$c=\large\frac{54}{90} $$\times 100=60^{\circ}C$
