A certain compound has the molecular formula $X_4O_6$.If 10.0g of compound contains 6.06g of X,the atomic mass of $X$ is

$\begin{array}{1 1}(a)\;32amu&(b)\;37amu \\(c)\;42amu&(d)\;48amu\end{array} $

Let the atomic mass of X=M
Then,$\large\frac{4M}{4M+96amu}=\frac{6.06}{10}$
Or $M=36.9$amu $\approx 37$amu
Hence (b) is the correct answer.
