1. The flow of filtrate in the two limbs of Henle’s loop is in opposite directions and thus forms a counter current. 2. But the flow of blood through the two limbs of vasa recta is not in a counter current pattern. Regarding 1 and 2 :


( A ) 1 is correct but 2 is incorrect
( B ) Both are incorrect
( C ) 1 is incorrect but 2 is correct
( D ) Both are correct

(A) is the right answer.

The flow of filtrate in the two limbs of Henle’s loop is in opposite directions and thus forms a counter current. The flow of blood through the two limbs of vasa recta is also in a counter current pattern.
