Given the two statements below, which of the following responses that follow the statements is correct?

Statement-1: All polyatomic gas molecules have 6 degrees of freedom

Statement-2: The number of degrees of freedom depend only on atomicity of gas

(1) Both Statements are true, and Statement 2 is the correct explanation of Statement 1 (2) Both Statements are true, but Statement 2 is NOT the correct explanation of Statement 1 (3) Statement 1 is true, Statement 2 is false (4) Statement 1 is false, Statement 2 is true

Answer: Statement 1 is false, Statement 2 is true
Statement 1 is false: A polyatomic gas molecule with N atoms has 3N-6 internal degrees of freedom (3N-5 if linear).
Statement 2: If a molecule has N atoms, it will have 3N-6 internal degrees of freedom, (3N-5 if linear), hence it depends on the atomicity of the molecule.
