If A and B are independent events such that \( P(A) = 0.2, P(A \cup B)=0.5, \: find \: P(B).\)

1 Answer

P(AUB) = P(A) + P(B)-P(A intersection B) Since the events are independent P(A intersection B)is 0 Therefore P(AUB)=P(A)+P(B) Now substituting the values we get 0.5 =0.2+P(B) This implies P(B) =0.3
