Calculate the mean deviation about median for the age distribution of 100 persons given below.

Step 1:
Here, $N=100$
$\large\frac{N}{2}$$=50$
Step 2:
median class is $35.5 -40.5$
$l =35.5$
$c= 37$
$f=26$
$h=5$
$M=l+ \large\frac{\Large\frac{N}{2} -c}{f}$$ \times h$
$M= 35.5+\large\frac{50-37}{26} $$ \times 5$
$\qquad= 35.5+2.5 =38$
Step 3:
Mean deviation about the mean $= \large\frac{\sum f_i |x_i -\bar{x}|}{\sum f_i}$
$\qquad= \large\frac{735}{100}$$=7.35$
Hence B is the correct answer.
