A letter is selected at random from the word "ASSASSINATION".Find the probability that letter is a consonant

  • Probability =$\large\frac{\text{Number of favorable outcomes}}{\text{Total number of outcomes}}$
Step 1:
Given the word "ASSASSINATION"
$\therefore$ Total number of letters =13
Total number of consonants in the word =7
Step 2:
Probability that letter is a consonant =$\large\frac{n(E)}{n(S)}$
$\Rightarrow \large\frac{7}{13}$
Hence (B) is the correct answer.
