Fill in the blanks : $P(A)=0.5,P(B)=0.35,P(A\cup B)=0.7,P(A\cap B)=$_________

Toolbox:
  • Formula used to solve this problem $P(A\cup B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A\cap B)$
$P(A)=0.5$
$P(B)=0.35$
$P(A\cup B)=0.7$
$\therefore P(A \cup B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A\cap B)$
0.7=0.5+0.35-$P(A \cap B)$
$0.7-0.5-0.35=-P(A\cap B)$
$-0.15=-P(A\cap B)$
$P(A \cap B)=0.15$
Hence (B) is the correct answer.
