A and B are two events such that P(A)=0.54,P(B)=0.69 and $P(A\cap B)=0.35$.Find $P(A\cup B)$

$\begin{array}{1 1}(A)\;0.88\\(B)\;0.78\\(C)\;0.98\\(D)\;0.48\end{array} $

Toolbox:
  • $P(A\cup B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A \cap B)$
$P(A)=0.54$
$P(B)=0.69$
$P(A \cap B)=0.35$
$P(A\cup B)=P(A)+P(B)-P(A \cap B)$
$\Rightarrow 0.54+0.69-0.35$
$\Rightarrow 1.23-0.35$
$\Rightarrow 0.88$
Hence (A) is the correct answer.
