Find a unit vector in the direction of \( \overrightarrow a = 3\hat i - 2\hat j + 6\hat k \)

  • Unit vector in the direction of $ \overrightarrow {a}$ is $ \large\frac{ \overrightarrow {a}}{|\overrightarrow {a}|}$
$\overrightarrow a=3\hat i-2\hat j+6\hat k$
Unit vector in the direction of $ \overrightarrow {a}$ is $ \large\frac{ \overrightarrow {a}}{|\overrightarrow {a}|}$
$\mid \overrightarrow a\mid =\sqrt{3^2+(-2)^2+(6)^2}$
$\quad\quad=\sqrt{9+4+36}$
$\quad\quad=\sqrt{49}$
$\quad\quad=7$
Step 2:
Unit vector $\hat n=\large\frac{1}{7}$$(3\hat i-2\hat j+6\hat k)$
