When mercuric iodide is added to an aqueous solution of potassium iodide, the

$\begin{array}{1 1} \text{boiling point is raised}\\ \text{boiling point is lowered} \\ \text{freezing point does not change} \\\text{effect on freezing point cannot be predicted } \end{array} $

Answer : boiling point is lowered
From the reaction $Hgl_2 +2 Kl \to K_2[Hgl_4]$
The total number of species is lowered from $4(=2(K^+) +2(I^{-}))$ to $3 (=2(K^{+})+1 (Hgl_4^{2-}))$.
Hence , there is less increase in the boiling point .
