Calculate the weight of a non volatile solute having molecular weight 40,which should be dissolved in 114gm octane to reduce its vapour pressure to 80%.

$P_s=\big(\large\frac{80}{100}\big)$$P^0$
$m=40,W=114g,M=114$
$\large\frac{P^0-P_s}{P_s}=\frac{w\times M}{m\times W}$
(Or) $\large\frac{P^0-(80/100)P^0}{(80/100)P^0}=\frac{w\times 114}{40\times 114}$
$\therefore w=10$g
