If a net horizontal force of 130 N is applied to a person with mass 60 kg who is resting on the edge of a swimming pool, what is the horizontal acceleration produced?

Answer: 2.2 ms$^{-2}$
According to Newton's second law, $\large\Sigma$$F = 130 N = ma = 60 \times a \rightarrow a = \large\frac{130}{60}$$ = 2.2\; m/s^2$
