A father is 30 years older than his son. He will be three times as old as his son after 5 years. What is the father's present age?

Solution :
Let the age of the son be x
father's age $=30+x$
$30+x =3(x+5)$
$30+x+5= 3x+15$
$35-15=2x$
$20=2x$
$x=10$
father's age $=30+10$
$\qquad= 40$
