The hysteresis loop of a soft iron piece has a much smaller are than that of a carbon steel piece . If the material is to go through repeated cycle of magnetization , Which piece will dissipate greater heat energy ?

Solution :
In a hysteresis loop the energy dissipated per cycle is directly proportional to the area of hysteresis loop.
The area of the hysteresis loop is more for carbon steel.
Therefore carbon steel piece will dissipute greater heat energy .
