Two angles are supplementary. one angle is 3 degrees less than twice the other. Find the measure of the smaller angle


$( A ) 61^{\circ} \\ ( B ) 119^{\circ} \\ ( C ) 72^{\circ} \\ ( D ) 67^{\circ}$

Let one angle be - x
Then the other angle will be - 2x-3
Given the two angles are supplementry
$\Rightarrow$ x+2x-3 = 180
$\Rightarrow$ 3x - 3 = 180
$\Rightarrow$ 3x = 183
$\Rightarrow$ x = 61
Then the other angle will be $2\times 61 - 3$ = 119
Hence the smaller angle is $61^{\circ}$
