There are 3 numbers, the third one is the lowest in value. The ratio of the second number to the third number is 3:1. The difference between the second and third number is 48. The ratio of the second number to the first is 2:1. Find the sum of the three numbers

Let the three numbers be X, Y and Z.
The ratio of the second number to the third number is 3:1 $\rightarrow$ Y:Z:: 3:1 $\rightarrow$ Y = 3Z.
Difference between Z and Y is given as 48, i.e, Y - Z = 48 $\rightarrow$ 3Z - Z = 48$ \rightarrow$ 2Z = 48 $\rightarrow$ Z = 24.
Now we can calculate Y = 3Y $\rightarrow$ 3 x 24 = 72.
Ratio of Y to X is 2:1, i.e, Y = 2X $\rightarrow$ 2X = 72 $\rightarrow$ X = 36.
Therefore, we can solve this as follows: X+ Y + Z = 36+72+24 = 132.
