(A) 4.5 Kgs (B) 3 Kgs (C) 3.5 Kgs (D) 4 Kgs

1 Answer

I paid Rs. 12.27 as total postage, and the first Kg was charged Rs. 9.27, therefore, the remaining weight was charged 12.27 - 9.21 = Rs.3.06
We need to find the weight of the remaining parcel that cost us Rs. 3.06.
We are told that we paid 51 paise for each additional 500 grams
Therefore if we divide 3.06 by 0.51, we can find the number of additional 500 gram piece that make up the rest of the package.
$\Rightarrow \large\frac{3.06}{0.51}$$ = 6$. There are 6 increments of 500 grams, or 6 x 500 = 3 Kgs in the remaining parcel.
Therefore the weight of the parcel = 1 Kg + 3 Kg = 4 Kgs.
