$\ast \; R \times R \to R$
$a \ast b = a + 4b^2$
$\begin{align*}\implies -5 \ast (2 \ast 0) & =(-5) \ast [2 + 4 (0)^2] \\ & = -5 \ast 2 \\& = -5 + 4(2)^2 \\ & = -5 + 4 \times 4 \\ & = 11 \end{align*}$
