The dental pulp is a minute piece (approximately $25 mm^3$) of connective tissue a skin to any other in the body and consists of cells, nerve fibres and blood vessels embedded in a gel-like ground substance or the central part of the tooth filled with soft connective tissue.Inflammation of the pulp from tooth decay, infection, trauma, and/or various related causes results in a condition known as pulpitis.
