A piston fitted tightly against the inner walls of a long cylindrical tube is moved with the aid of a long rod. The tube with the piston at its lowest point is sunk into a vessel. As soon as the bottom of the tube is immersed in the water the piston is raised by means of the rod. To what height h from the level of the water in the vessel can the water in the tube be raised by this method?
